About this opportunity
The SAF Merit Scholarship is a top-tier military scholarship from MINDEF and the SAF. It funds an undergraduate degree at a local or overseas university, with a monthly salary during studies, full tuition and approved academic charges, and maintenance allowances, and leads into a leadership career in the SAF. Recipients must qualify for and excel in Officer Cadet School, and a six-year bond applies.

Singapore citizens, or permanent residents intending to take up citizenship, with good GCE A-level or IB results, a Polytechnic Diploma (with Merit) or equivalent, good CCA records and strong leadership qualities. Must qualify for and excel in Officer Cadet School and have a strong interest in a military career. Open to both genders.

Apply online through the MINDEF scholarship portal (go.gov.sg/mindef-saf-scholarship). Male applicants: 1 Sep 2026 to 30 Apr 2027 (open). Female applicants: 1 Apr 2027 to 31 Aug 2027 (opens 1 Apr 2027).
