<p>The Science Mentorship Programme (SMP) pairs selected secondary school students with research mentors at local tertiary institutions including NUS, NTU/NIE, and polytechnics. The programme is jointly organised by the MOE Gifted Education Branch, and culminates in student presentations at the Youth Science Conference (YSC).</p><ul><li>Open to secondary school students (typically Sec 3–4) interested in scientific research</li><li>Applications are made via School-Based Gifted Education (SBGE) and Integrated Programme (IP) schools</li><li>Weekly mentor meetings from January to July, with a two-week full-time block during the June school holidays</li><li>Students choose a topic of interest, carry out an in-depth investigation in a research setting, and write a scientific paper</li><li>Papers are published in the Proceedings of the YSC and showcased via posters and oral presentations</li></ul>
