About this opportunity
The Royal Geographical Society's yearly geography competition asks students to make an A3 poster on a set theme, or for the 16 to 18 age group an ArcGIS StoryMap. The 2026 theme, From Source to Sea, covers how rivers shape the land and how people and nature depend on them, across human and physical geography. Entries from international schools are judged in their own pathway, and winners are invited to an awards ceremony in London on 27 November 2026.
Who can apply
Students worldwide, entering individually or through their school. Students aged 16 to 18 enter the Key Stage 5 / A Level category; younger categories cover ages 7 to 16. Each entry must be made by one student, not a group. Singapore students use the independent and international schools pathway, which also covers non-fee-paying schools outside the UK.
How to apply
Submit online through the independent and international schools form on the RGS page by Friday 2 October 2026, 5pm UK time. No pre-registration is needed, but teacher and school contact details must be included even for individual entries.
