<p>The Pascal, Cayley and Fermat Contests are three 60-minute multiple-choice mathematics contests from the University of Waterloo's Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing (CEMC), written on the same day by students in Grades 9, 10 and 11 respectively. They emphasise logical thinking and problem-solving, and are a common stepping stone to the Euclid Contest.</p> <ul> <li>Pascal: Grade 9 (Sec 3). Cayley: Grade 10 (Sec 4). Fermat: Grade 11 (Sec 5 / JC1). Motivated younger students may write, and strong students may attempt above their grade level.</li> <li>Format: 25 multiple-choice questions across three parts; maximum score 150. Some calculators permitted.</li> <li>Held annually in February at authorised CEMC test centres; 2026 contest date was 25 February.</li> <li>Awards: Certificate of Distinction for the top 25%; school champion medals; school-team rankings at zone, provincial and national level.</li> <li>CEMC fee CAD $6 per participant plus processing and international shipping; local test-centre admin fees may apply.</li> </ul> <p>Singapore students register through their school or an authorised test centre's contest supervisor via the CEMC portal.</p>
