<p>The Fryer, Galois and Hypatia Contests are three grade-specific 75-minute mathematics contests from the University of Waterloo's Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing (CEMC), run concurrently for students in Grades 9, 10 and 11. They emphasise mathematical communication: written solutions are marked for completeness, clarity and presentation.</p> <ul> <li>Fryer: Grade 9 (Sec 3). Galois: Grade 10 (Sec 4). Hypatia: Grade 11 (Sec 5 / JC1).</li> <li>Format: 4 questions per paper — a mix of final-answer and full-solution — scored out of 40.</li> <li>Held annually in April, typically on the same day as the Euclid Contest.</li> <li>Awards: Certificate of Distinction for the top 25%; School Champion medals; zone, provincial and national honour rolls.</li> <li>CEMC fee CAD $12 per participant plus processing and international shipping; local test-centre admin fees may apply.</li> </ul> <p>Singapore students register through their school or an authorised test centre's contest supervisor via the CEMC portal.</p>
