About this opportunity

<p>The International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) is the top international physics competition for secondary school students. Singapore fields a national team of up to 5 students, jointly organised by the Institute of Physics Singapore, the Ministry of Education, NUS, and NIE/NTU, with training coordinated through the SPOT (Singapore Physics Olympiad Training) programme at NUS.</p><ul><li>Eligibility: top Singapore Physics Olympiad (SPhO) performers, typically JC1–JC2 or IP Year 5–6, under age 20 at 30 June of the competition year</li><li>No individual application — selection is by invitation through SPhO results and SPOT training</li><li>Training: multi-month intensive coaching at NUS covering university-level physics and advanced mathematics</li><li>Competition: a 9-10 day event with theoretical and experimental exams, plus cultural exchange</li><li>IPhO 2026: 4–12 July in Bucaramanga, Colombia (56th edition)</li></ul><p>Interested students should approach their school's physics teacher to participate in SPhO, the national feeder competition.</p>
