About this opportunity

<p>The Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) is an annual regional physics competition for the top pre-university students in Asia. Singapore fields a team of up to eight students selected through the Singapore Physics Olympiad (SPhO) and subsequent Singapore Physics Olympiad Training (SPOT) pathway, with APhO serving as the key stepping stone to the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO).</p><ul><li>Eligibility: top SPhO performers in JC/IP Year 5–6, selected by invitation</li><li>Pathway: SPhO shortlist into SPOT training, followed by APhO team selection</li><li>APhO 2026 is hosted in Busan, Republic of Korea, from 17–25 May 2026</li><li>Problems cover theoretical and experimental physics at a level well beyond the A-Level syllabus</li><li>Outcomes include medals, certificates and mentorship from SPOT trainers</li></ul><p>Students cannot apply directly; progression begins with SPhO registration through their school's physics department.</p>
