<p>The Southeast Asian Short Film Competition is one of SGIFF's flagship festival sections, presenting shortlisted shorts from across the region and awarding the Silver Screen Awards at the Singapore International Film Festival each year. Recent editions have selected roughly 20–25 films across several themed screening programmes.</p> <ul> <li>Open to short films from Southeast Asian filmmakers — must be at least a Singapore premiere and not previously broadcast on TV, released online or screened publicly in Singapore.</li> <li>For the 37th edition, films must not have premiered earlier than 1 October 2025.</li> <li>Early-bird submissions for the 2026 cycle are free (9 April – 9 May 2026); a USD 15 entry fee applies from 10 May 2026.</li> <li>Submissions close 9 June 2026 at 2359h (GMT+8).</li> <li>Selected films are screened to the public during the festival (held in December) and evaluated by an international jury for the Silver Screen Awards.</li> </ul> <p>Submissions are made through the SGIFF Call for Entries portal on the official festival site.</p>
