<p>The International Economics Olympiad (IEO) is an annual international competition for pre-university students testing economics, financial literacy, and business case-solving. Singapore fields a team of up to five students selected through the Singapore National Economics Olympiad (SGNEO).</p><ul><li>Held each year in July; the 2026 edition (9th edition) runs 12 to 20 July in Suzhou, China</li><li>Eligibility: younger than 20 as of 30 June of the competition year, with high-school graduation later than 1 December the prior year</li><li>Competition format combines an economics and finance multiple-choice round, open-response questions, and a business case presentation in English before a jury</li><li>Each country enters up to five contestants and one or two team leaders</li><li>Singapore students cannot apply directly to IEO; they must qualify through SGNEO's national selection</li></ul><p>For Singapore participation, register via the SGNEO website when national sign-ups open each year. Participation at the IEO is free of charge for the selected national team.</p>
