About this opportunity

A team programming contest for students up to 12th grade, written and run by students at UC Berkeley and held each fall and spring. Teams of up to three get three hours to solve a large set of algorithm problems of widely varying difficulty, online, in C, C++, Java, Python or Rust. Anyone can take part, and teams made up only of pre-college students can win placement prizes. An optional in-person contest at UC Berkeley costs USD 20.

Who can apply

Open to everyone, but only teams made up entirely of pre-college students (anyone who has not entered college or university) are eligible for placement prizes. Teams of up to 3.

How to apply

Fill in the General Registration Form linked from the CALICO site, one form per team. Online registration closes 1 November 2026 at 11:59 pm Pacific Time. The Fall '26 contest runs 8 November, 4 to 7 pm Pacific Time, which is 9 November, 8 to 11 am in Singapore.
