About this opportunity

The University of Waterloo's annual programming contest, open to full-time students at schools anywhere in the world. You write it individually at school under a teacher's supervision: five problems in three hours, at Junior or Senior level, in C, C++, Python or Java. Scores go on a certificate of distinction, and top Senior results from Canadian schools lead to the Canadian Computing Olympiad.

Who can apply

Any full-time student may take part, choosing Junior or Senior level regardless of grade. Participants writing at a school outside Canada count as official if born on or after 1 July 2007; others take part as unofficial participants and can still earn certificates.

How to apply

Ask a teacher to act as Contest Supervisor and order the contest from the CEMC by 11 February 2027 (late registrants can be added before the start). Outside the Americas, the contest is written at school on Thursday 18 February 2027.
