About this opportunity

<p>The National Olympiad in Informatics (NOI) Singapore is the country's premier competitive programming contest for pre-university students, hosted by the NUS School of Computing annually since 1998. Top performers advance to intensive training and form Singapore's team to the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI).</p><ul><li>Open to all students at a local secondary school or junior college regardless of nationality, with separate Secondary and Junior College categories; only Singapore citizens and PRs can go on to represent Singapore at the IOI.</li><li>The Online Preliminary Contest filters entries; top-performing students from each school qualify for the Final Contest.</li><li>The Final Contest is held in person at the NUS School of Computing, with contestants solving four to five algorithmic problems in a single five-hour session.</li><li>Solutions are judged on correctness and efficiency and must be written in C++ or Python.</li><li>Top-ranked contestants are invited to advanced training, including the NUS CS3233 Competitive Programming module, and may represent Singapore at the IOI.</li></ul><p>Students register through their school's NOI teacher-in-charge; homeschooled students based in Singapore can contact the NOI coordinator directly.</p>

Who can apply

Students currently attending a local secondary school or junior college, regardless of nationality or citizenship; Singapore citizens or PRs at an equivalent school overseas, or homeschooled in Singapore, are also eligible. Individual participation; only Singapore citizens and PRs can go on to represent Singapore at the IOI.

Schools register students through their NOI teacher-in-charge; the 2026 contest has finished and the 2027 dates are not yet announced, but registration usually closes in February.
