<p>International Law in Action is a Leiden University MOOC on Coursera that guides learners through the international courts and tribunals based in The Hague, including the International Court of Justice, arbitral bodies, and international criminal tribunals. Through selected cases and interviews with judges and lawyers, students explore how each institution addresses contemporary problems and contributes to global justice.</p><ul><li>Five modules covering the Hague institutions, the ICJ, arbitration of international disputes, international criminal courts, and concluding themes.</li><li>Self-paced with flexible schedule; includes five graded assignments toward a shareable certificate.</li><li>Three cross-cutting themes: the interaction of law and politics, the role of State consent, and the capacity of international courts to protect global values.</li><li>Taught by Larissa van den Herik, Cecily Rose, and other Leiden faculty.</li><li>Free to join; an optional verified certificate is available for a fee, with financial aid available via Coursera.</li></ul><p>It forms part of a three-course Leiden series alongside modules on investigating international crimes and the arbitration of international disputes.</p>
