About this opportunity
The Poetry Society's annual poetry prize for 11 to 17 year olds names 100 winners each year: 15 top winners and 85 commended poets. International entrants send one poem of up to 40 lines on any theme. All winners are published by The Poetry Society and get online writing workshops and networking events, and top international winners are invited to read at an online awards showcase.
Who can apply
Anyone aged 11 to 17 on the closing date, from anywhere in the world. International entrants may submit one poem. Poems must be in English (phrases in your mother tongue are allowed), unpublished and your own work; AI-written poems are not accepted.
How to apply
Enter online at foyleyoungpoets.org. The 2026 award closed on 31 July 2026 and results are due in autumn 2026. Dates for the 2027 award are not yet announced; recent editions have closed at the end of July.
