About this opportunity

<p>An annual essay contest organised by the Columbia Undergraduate Law Review (CULR) for current high school students worldwide. Entrants write a short legal-analysis essay responding to a set prompt on a live constitutional or international-law question; the 2026 prompt focuses on due process and the limits of government power in immigration.</p><ul><li>Open internationally to current high school students; recent graduates are not eligible</li><li>One essay per entrant, up to 1,500 words (excluding footnotes and bibliography), submitted as a PDF via Google Form</li><li>Must cite at least one court case or legal document, using Chicago citation format</li><li>Submission deadline: 11:59pm EST on 26 June 2026; results announced in early August</li><li>Winning essay is published on the CULR website; the winner and runners-up are invited to a CULR-hosted speaker event on immigration and legal protections for non-citizens</li></ul><p>Questions can be directed to CULR's Online Co-Executive Editors at the contact addresses listed on the contest page.</p>
