<p>The CCCS-ESS Essay Competition is a periodic Singapore essay contest co-organised by the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS) and the Economic Society of Singapore (ESS). Entrants write on questions at the intersection of competition law, consumer protection, and contemporary policy themes (recent editions have covered AI and environmental sustainability).</p><ul><li>Entries are judged in two categories: a Pre-university / School category and an Open category.</li><li>The School category covers post-secondary students in Singapore (JC, polytechnics, centralised institutes, international schools, IB and IP diploma students), NSFs, and Singaporean pre-university students studying overseas.</li><li>Prize structure per category: 1st S$3,000, 2nd S$2,000, 3rd S$1,000, and three merit awards of S$300 each.</li><li>The competition is held periodically; the sixth edition ran in 2024 on the theme of artificial intelligence, with a 31 May 2024 submission deadline.</li></ul><p>Terms, topics, and submission forms for each edition are published on the CCCS website at the time of launch.</p>
