About this opportunity

<p>Reading Odyssey is a community-based literacy volunteering project by SHINE Children & Youth Services that empowers disadvantaged children aged 6 to 12 to read for meaning, knowledge, and understanding. Volunteers support children through group and one-to-one reading, facilitated discussions, and activities that build confidence, reading skills, and comprehension.</p><ul><li>Volunteers undergo pre-programme training covering relevant skills and programme-specific knowledge.</li><li>Tasks include facilitating activities, reading with a big group, running 1-to-1 or small-group reading, and attending session briefings and debriefings.</li><li>Sessions run weekly from 7:00pm to 9:30pm.</li><li>2026 cohorts: Wednesdays 21 Jan – 6 May 2026 at 807B Choa Chu Kang Avenue 1, and Thursdays 29 Jan – 30 Apr 2026 at 118A Jalan Membina (Kim Tian West RC).</li></ul><p>Interested volunteers can sign up through the SHINE volunteer form or contact Lynette at +65 8484 6432.</p>
