<p>Amgen Biotech Experience (ABE) is a hands-on biotechnology education programme for secondary and tertiary students, funded by the Amgen Foundation with technical direction from the Education Development Center. In Singapore, Science Centre Singapore runs the local programme, loaning research-grade lab equipment, supplies, and curriculum to participating schools at no cost.</p><ul><li>Curriculum covers genetic engineering concepts and drug-discovery applications across up to eight connected labs</li><li>Two delivery formats: ABE Express (a condensed 1–2 day version run by Science Centre educators) and the full ABE programme (labs run by teachers or Science Centre educators; kits are loaned for up to 3 months at a time)</li><li>Open to secondary and junior-college students; schools apply for equipment loan and teacher professional development</li><li>Teachers who run the labs themselves borrow the kits at no charge; Science Centre educator-led labs cost SGD 5 to 10 per student per lab, and ABE Express costs SGD 20 to 35 per student</li><li>Launched in Singapore in 2017; reached over 870 students across 14 schools in its first year</li></ul><p>Teachers register for teacher workshops through the forms on the Amgen Biotech Experience Singapore site, and book student lessons by emailing amgenbiotechexperience@science.edu.sg.</p>
